Q:What happens during a lash extension procedure?
A: For the application, you will be lying on your back with your eyes closed. Many people find the experience so relaxing that they fall asleep.
The artist will start by brushing your eyelashes, cleaning them of any makeup residue. To keep your lower lashes out of the way, the artist will cover them with medical tape and/or a gel patch. This prevents them from sticking to the upper lashes.
Now you are ready to receive the first lash extension. The artist will separate one of your eyelashes from the others using specialized tweezers. Then, the lash artist will apply adhesive to the extension, put it in the correct position, and bond it in place. For safety reasons, extensions are always applied directly to natural lashes, never to skin. Once the stylist has completed all the lashes on one eye, it is time for the other. You will receive the same number of lashes on each side for an even appearance.
Q:What are the do’s and don’ts for maintaining eyelash extensions?
A: Lash extensions last between two and four weeks, depending on how quickly your natural lashes fall out in your hair lifecycle. To keep the lash extensions attached, avoiding touch them right after application. You should also prevent any contact with oil-based products, like makeup remover and lotions, and avoid steam rooms, saunas, pools and water for the next 24-48 hours.
Q: Can I wear any eye makeup with lash extensions?
A: Yes, you can wear eye makeup with extensions. However, steer clear away from any products with oil as they can be harmful to the glue that keeps the artificial lashes attached to your natural ones. When removing your makeup, use an oil-free makeup remover and avoid your lash line completely. Use a cosmetic sponge to remove the makeup rather than a cotton ball or pad, which can leave cotton residue stuck in your lashes.
Q: So, they fall out on their own?
A: Yes, over time. As your natural lashes regenerate, the eyelash extensions will fall out too. If you desire to have your extensions removed, the best thing to do, is to go have them professionally removed.
Q: What are fan eyelash extensions?
A: Fan eyelash extensions are simply several lash extensions joined together at the base to create a fan. The fan extension is applied the same way as an individual one on one lash extension.
